Privacy Policy
The Nidus Personal Planning Resource Centre (Nidus) respects and protects your privacy. We are committed to ensuring compliance with legislative requirements in this regard. Nidus will inform you of what personal information it collects about people and why. We will store information securely and identify who has access to the information collected. We will inform you of what information will be shared, with whom and why. Nidus will not sell any personal information it collects.
Accessing the Nidus website
You can access the Nidus website without disclosing your personal information. The only personal information captured through our website is any information that you actively volunteer such as by completing an online form. We are committed to not disclosing or sharing any information that you provide with anyone who is not connected to our organization as staff or volunteer, unless you permit it.
Nidus uses Google Analytics to help us analyze visitors to our website. This allows us to determine in general terms who is accessing our information and services. The information collected is used to report on non-individualized activity. For example: “50% of visitors accessed the research page on the Nidus website.” This general information is used to improve our services and may be used in reports to funders, donors and other supporters. Nidus might also report this anonymized information on its website or in its newsletter.
Google Analytics uses cookies to collect standard information (including your IP address) about visitors’ behaviour and stores this information on Google’s servers. Cookies are small files stored on your computer that hold data specific to a particular website, which can be accessed by the web server or your computer. This allows the server to show you a page tailored to your particular use of the website. Your personal internet browser may or may not have cookies enabled. Many websites, including ours, use cookies. They tell us how often you visit pages, which helps us learn what information is of interest to you. That way, we can give you more of the content that you prefer, and less of what you don’t. Cookies can increase efficiency. For example, when you visit a shopping website and add some items to your cart, then return the next day to find those same items in your cart–that is an example of cookies at work. If you never register or leave personal information on our website, then the server only knows that someone with your cookie has returned to the website. It is not tied to information that personally identifies you.
This privacy statement covers Nidus’ use of cookies only and does not cover the use of cookies by third parties.
At the date of the writing of our privacy policy, Google provides on their website that they have implemented a multi-layered security strategy. They state that Google Analytics mainly uses first-party cookies to report on user interactions on your website, which are used to store non-personally identifiable information. They state that Google Analytics data may not be shared without customer consent, except in certain limited circumstances, such as when required by law. You may read more about how Google Analytics safeguards your data here: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245.
We will try our best to keep up-to-date on Google Analytics’ Privacy Policy and ensure that it remains a safe and secure service that keeps your privacy and data secure. For further information, you can refer to the Terms of Service of Google Analytics.
By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about your use of the website by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above. However, you can also choose to decline cookies from Google Analytics by modifying the appropriate settings on your internet browser.
